Fantastic news for Samsung Galaxy Tab owners with Sprint – your Android tablet device’s firmware can now be updated with Sprint’s over-the-air update. This much anticipated firmware upgrade focuses primarily on new drivers for the LCD, and an Exchange email client application.

This update is actually already underway and is expected to finish for all Sprint customers within four days. Other enhancements you’ll get from this update include the QIK software update to higher version 0.04.77 which overlays the existing versions, and a lot of bug fixes for the Exchange email client.

In a surprise announcement Sprint slashed the price on the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Price drops were first initiated by Verizon when the carrier announced that they’ll be selling the 7-inch tablet PC for $499 only. Sprint joined in the bandwagon by slashing off their locked Galaxy Tab’s selling price to $299.

After Sprint Nextel’s announcement of the Galaxy Tab’s arrival this coming November 14^th, many reacted on the pricing disclosed saying it’s too much. It was reported last week that Sprint Nextel will sell the Galaxy Tab at $399.99 after a $50 savings. This requires a two year agreement with new line activation; data plan starts at $29.99 for 2GB.

We reported yesterday that Sprint is offering $399 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab for a 2-year contract and additional $200 without. It is a bit pricey for a tablet PC but rumors spreading that it’s not only Sprint offering the Galaxy Tab for a costly amount.  

Reports confirmed that Sprint will launch the Samsung Galaxy Tab on the 14th of November.
