Am I wrong, but didn't the Galaxy 1 just come out in Nov? That's just not right.
True, but the Galaxy Tab 2 won't be available until Summer like all Honeycomb devices other than the Xoom.
Yeah Ricky you are right, under normal circumstances it would be too soon to release a second generation tablet. Product cycles are usually about one year between models so they can get as much value as possible out each sales cycle. This year seems to be the exception to the rule due to the fierce competition in the tablet PC market. With the success of the iPad and the Galaxy Tab, other would be competitors are rushing to get a piece of the pie. Advances in low power processors and touchscreen technologies are keeping everyone on their toes. Samsung currently has several ground breaking products in development like a sliding tablet PC and a super thin 10" tablet with high resolution AMOLED screen. With the release of Android 3.0 Honeycomb and other devices hitting the market with dual core processors Samsung has been forced to release their second generation devices early. But like Kyle says it will take a while for the Galaxy Tab 2 to actually hit the market.
I also see the Galaxy 2 will be a 10" model.
That is what disappoints me most, I bought the Galaxy Tab but I am still in the return period… I will not be returning it as I do not want a 10″ Tablet or I would have kept the iPad.
Well, it does give consumers a choice to offer both 7 and 10 inch options. For me, it's not a major concern that the new Tab 2 offers dual-core and Honeycomb. I'm perfectly happy with the performance of my Tab and Android 2.2. works just fine. I prefer the 7 inch because of portability and that all Android apps works perfectly. Two major issues with the new model: no microSD slot and only 16/32 GB internal memory – a dealbreaker for me – and at present no apps that are designed for 10 inch screen. Samsung was innovative with the first Tab, now they are just bad copycats.
Love the galaxy tab with the 7 inch screen. So much more portable and capable than the ipad.
As a frequent traveller you dont have to remove it from your hand luggage and have it scanned like an ipad or notebook at certain airports around the world. Great device all around and makes travelling alot easier.
