Honeycomb 3.0 available for the Samsung Galaxy Tab??

UPDATE: The Technomancer ROM shared by XDA Developers is actually a beta release of Gingerbread 2.3.1, not the widely anticipated Honeycomb 3.0. However many users have reported that the Heimdall flashing procedure works, use at your own risk.

For all of you Android device owners who have been wanting to get your hands on the Android 3.0 Honeycomb, here it is. Well, a pre-release hacked version anyways. Honeycomb is still not up for purchase due to the fact that it’s still in the development phase, or beta as some of you nerds would call it. Even so, you can install Honeycomb on your Samsung Galaxy tab yourself, just be ready to find some bugs and learn to live with it until the next version comes out. But hey – look on the bright side, you’ll be one of the first to use it on your device at this very early stage of its development.

In this tutorial we’ll cover the 15 easy-to-follow steps on how to install Android 3.0 Honeycomb on your Galaxy Tab.. proceed at your own risk:

First you will need the Heimdall software for updating your Samsung device. This is an open source software for updating your firmware. Use extreme caution when flashing your Galaxy Tab… one wrong move could brick your device or make it unbootable, and this will certainly void your warranty.

1. Using your USB cable, connect your Galaxy tab to your computer.

2. From the official website, install the Heimdall’s latest build for your computer’s operating system.

3. Download the Honeycomb ROM for Samsung Galaxy Tab.

4. Once you have the Heimdall Suite on your computer, install it.

5. Restart your computer.

6. Unzip the ROM to your computer, you can choose any folder you want just remember which folder it is.

7. Execute Heimdall.

8. Add the components in the extracted ROM folder.

9. Turn your Samsung Galaxy tab off.

10. While pressing and holding the Home and Volume-down buttons, hold down the Power button until you enter the download mode.

11. Repeat step 1.

12. Execute Heimdall by pressing the start button.

13. Standby until it restarts.

14. Once your system is back, it will be in recovery mode then restarts one last time into the new firmware.
