EC02 Update For Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab Customers Available
The long awaited update for the original Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch is finally here. Many thought that this update would never happen but here it is at long last. This is for all Samsung Galaxy Tab owners with Verizon, and it’s called EC02 packed with cool new features to optimize your tablet’s full potentials.
Among new things you will experience after installing this 34.6MB update onto your tablet include enhanced browser performance and speed, improved battery life when searching for Wi-Fi hotspots, updated Adobe Flash Player, bug fixes with the alarms and time zone calendar settings, access to hyperlinks within emails, time displayed on the status bar will accurately reflect when the latest email was received, able to handle Word 2000 and 2003 documents, open attachments as big as 5MB, multiple name cards can now be sent using the “select all” added feature, and font size stays the same when replying to an email.
To get this update, simply get connected online and you will get a notification that a system update is available. You then press the “install now”, the tablet will turn off and back on then installs the update for about 5 to 10 minutes. You can choose to do the update later, Verizon will flash a note every 30 minutes until you install.
Despite the great functionality improvements within the update, there isn’t still one for Android 3.0 Honeycomb. There are really a lot of people waiting for it but I guess that’s not coming out anytime soon as the guys at Samsung is still very busy working on the 2 other new upcoming tablets.

Finally!!!! Love my Galaxy Tab and have been waiting patiently for an upgrade Soon. Hope it comes today!!!
I thought all along that what we've been waiting for is the upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread promised for the first quarter of 2011. Is this it? Or is this something short of Android 2.3? It must not be Gingerbread, since there is no mention of the newer keyboard in the update advance release notes.
So what happened to Gingerbread for the Galaxy Tab – is it still expected?
This makes everything so completely painless.
Finally received my update, have noticed much of a change.
You can pull the update manually right now from the About tablet > Software update menu (you have to choose United Kingdom when asked for region). Once that is done, you will be prompted to create a Samsung account (note: this is required in order to pull the update). Past that, it should tell you that a firmware update is available. Let it do it’s thing for about 15 minutes, reboot, and you should be rocking 3.1.
