Australian Galaxy Tab’s Intro Price at AU$999 according to Samsung
Samsung has launched its pricing in Australia for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and its one fancy gadget. As what Samsung Australia communicated to Smarhouse, Froyo slate will have its introductory price at AU$999- estimated $995- that’s $500 more than Apple’s 32GB 3G + Wifi iPad initial price in the country.

“Galaxy Tab has great advantage to iPad in size, as it fits in a pocket; it is portable and carries a USB port. Additional features include camera and a flash which is not found in iPad. We have an exceptional product and we feel this is a reasonable price” Tyler McGee, VP of Telecommunications, Samsung Australia.
Online marketplace such as Amazon UK has listed £599.99, an estimated $941 and is expected to ship on November 1st. It seems that the broadcasted price for the GalaxyTab in Australia became the benchmark for retailers in the street market based on the price Amazon disclosed.
Consumers might have a contradicting judgment with Samsung’s position to Galaxy’s additional cost. Some prospect buyers and gadget enthusiasts find portability, a camera and flash, and USB capability insufficient reasons to splurge on their hard earned cash especially with reported camera-equipped iPad and smaller 7-inch iPad versions to be in production soon.
