After weeks of speculation, rumors and leaked information, Samsung has officially released the details of the second generation Galaxy Tab. The announcement was made at a huge special event called Unpacked at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 13, 2011. And boy does Samsung know how to throw a party..
Samsung's new tablet is called the Galaxy Tab 10.1, where you guessed it.. the '10.1' is referring to the device's stunning 10 inch screen. Many people have been debating whether the Galaxy Tab would make the jump to a dual core processor with the ability to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Meanwhile Samsung has been secretly developing the Tegra 2 chipset in partnership with Nvidia, a dual-core processor running at 1.2 GHz. This new hardware gives the Galaxy Tab 10.1 the kick it needs to support a high resolution 10.1” WXGA TFT LCD touchscreen, dual camera's and the ability to record and playback full HD video at 1080p.
Like it's younger brother the Galaxy Tab 10.1 actually has two cameras, one on the front and one on the back. The main camera is 8 mega pixels with auto focus and flash, while the front facing camera is 2 mega pixels. The 10.1 tablet also boasts dual surround sound speakers, a 3.5mm ear jack, 16GB or 32GB of DDR2 memory, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and an amazing 6860mAh battery.
